the method
We are a somatic-oriented pilates studio.
We flow slowly around here. The somatic approach to movement is through the nervous system to make lasting changes in your muscles, making your body more livable.
his is a practice to retrain your body and how it moves, to take you out of movement patterns that have created disconnection and pain, we approach the body at the root cause - the nervous system.

We Move

We work with the core of the body first, then move outward towards extremities. All movement patterns begin at the core of the body.
Our nervous system controls our muscles, and our muscles move our bones around, creating the movement. Our body does not move unless our nervous system tells it to do so.*
This is a movement practice to retrain your body and how it moves, to get you out of the movement patterns that have created disconnection and pain.
Chronic pain, stress, muscle tension, postural issues, joint problems, and stress fractures often stem from the nervous system's functioning and its influence on our body's movements. We address the root causes of pain by working with the nervous system to correct full-body movement patterns.*

We Slow Down

We Explore
There is no prescriptive path, no one-size-fits-all all map to a life of richer embodiment, presence, and awareness. This process is intricate and ever evolving, we're here to help.
You will learn the language of your body by cultivating somatic awareness through connecting to the present moment and being with the felt-sense experience as it happens, exploring sensations, and remaining open to what happens next. Our intention is to make you the expert of your body.
We are what we practice regularly. When you learn to slow down, you create space. This space will give you the ability to respond, to watch, notice, and then take action with thoughtful guidance.
All of this happens through the present moment. The body can only ever exist in the present moment, so the body is the doorway to meeting life as it really is.

I just had my first 1:1 pilates intro session with Justina. It was amazing! Her reformer machine is magic. I highly recommend for anyone who wants to work on the mind/body connection through movement. Justina is so knowledgeable about our core muscles, I was able to get an intense workout AND an education about how my core muscles work and why they’re so important. If you’re curious about pilates, start here. Justina moves at your pace and gives you time to really connect to your body so your workout is productive. I can’t wait for my next session!!
